Abstract
The purpose of this study is to apply an exercise program to community residents, verify its effectiveness, and provide basic data for future health promotion programs for community residents. In this study, an exercise program was developed and applied as part of a health promotion program at the J-gun Physical Fitness Certification Center, and the effectiveness of the exercise program was verified through pre-tests and post-tests twice on those who voluntarily agreed to participate. Total 18 adult women participated in this 8-week exercise program. All of them were healthy having no specific diseases except 2 having high blood pressure. At first we measured physical fitness factors such as, muscle strength, muscular endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, flexibility, agility, and quickness, and at the second time we measured physiological variables such as body composition, waist circumference, blood pressure, and blood chemistry. As a result, the physical fitness factors showed tendency for improvement but it was not statistically significant. On physiological factors, there was no significant change in body composition, but waist circumference significantly decreased. Mean data of blood pressure did not show difference but 2 people having high BP normalized. Chemical factors such as, HDL, LDL, and blood sugar did not show significant difference but were maintained within normal ranges. The real-time non-contact community based exercise program conducted in this study showed promising results for maintaining health and/or improving chronic disease conditions. But it is necessary to secure more evidences and improve applicability.
